Climbing Routes

Last Monday, I climbed the route from Mount Takao to Kobotoke Pass for the first time in a while. At that time, a song came up in my mind.  The verse is as follows, “There are many paths at the foot of the mountain, but they all come to the same height to see the moon.”

A mountain has several climbing routes and each route has different sceneries.  There can be many slopes and stones, but you reach the peak from any routes.

It is said that for all religions, all gods, the belief are the same.  This is sometimes used as a crude parable.  If the mountains are different, faith will be different, but how about for different denominations?

Denominations as such Baptists, Lutherans, Presbyterians, and Congregationalists believe in the same God.  Each denomination has different characters just like different climbing routes . . . slopes and sceneries. Perhaps by sharing the different routes, we get to see the whole picture of the mountain.

I believe that it will deepen your understanding of God. (Pastor)
