Scripture:Mark15:42-47  Sermon title"He did boldly"

This is the scene where Jesus died on the cross.
When Jesus died, there was a person who moved fast. "
Joseph of Arimathea" (v.43).
"
So as evening approached "(v.42) represent as a very tense situation. The Bible says because "It was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath)" (v.42).

The Sabbath of Judea is Saturday. Starting from Friday evening until the next evening.
He wanted to take the body down before the Sabbath began.
When it comes to the Sabbath day, they are supposed bury the body by the Sabbath regulation.
However they cannot leave the body it as it is.
Because there is a commandment that
t If someone guilty of a capital offense is put to death and their body is exposed on a pole, 23 you must not leave the body hanging on the pole overnight. (Deuteronomy 21: 22-23).

Joseph of Arimathea went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body.
When Pilate gave permission to hand over,
Joseph bought some linen cloth, took down the body, wrapped it in the linen, and placed it in a tomb cut out of rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. (v. 43-46).

1) What kind of person was Joseph of Arimathea?
"
a prominent member of the Council " " waiting for the kingdom of God " (v. 43)
"
a rich man who become a disciple of Jesus.(Matthew 27: 57)
He must have been attracted to the gospel of the kingdom of God that Jesus preaches and became a disciple of Jesus.
Also, it is written "
a good and upright man, who had not consented to their decision and action." (Luke 23: 50-51)

He was a member of Sanhedrin (Congress of Judea), opposed to conviction of Jesus in Congress. It was drowned out as a voice of a few people. He must have courage to challenge among many people

2) Why did Joseph act?
In requesting Pilate to pick up the body, it never had chances if Peter and the disciples of the redneck asked.
Also, he did not think that the trembling disciples were not capable.
He didn’t think they could prepare the tomb for those who came from the country side.
Therefore, he realized that he was the only one to negotiate as a member of the Council. He knew his role and what he had to do.

3) Boldly
The word of "Boldly" is translated as "bravely" "dare to do" "dare to (risk)".
Some people say "We can do it when we have to". All the disciples who said so, betrayed Jesus and ran away.
His courage was the fact that the witness and actions as a Christian as everyday became power in the event of emergency.
