Scripture:Mark15:38-41  Sermon title" He truly was the Son of God!"

Then Jesus uttered another loud cry and breathed his last (on the cross) (verse37),
and the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two from top to bottom. (verse38)

The curtain of the Jerusalem temple is that separates the sanctuary and the most holy. The most holy sanctuary is the place of the presence of God.
There is another passage where two things are torn in the Gospel according to Mark. It is written that Jesus was baptized in Mark Chapter 1.

At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. (Mark1:9-10)

It says "Heaven is torn open".
Those events that separated God from others were removed,

It means that the distance between God and man has become close.

The centurion who are Gentiles (foreigners in terms of Jews) saw how he died and said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!” (verse39)

"The Son of God" is a word that was used almost as a synonym for Messiah (Christ) at the time. It was the centurion’s confession of faith for Christ.

The gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 1:2-4)

It is very surprising that the centurion confessed that the man who was killed by the crucifixion was "a son of God".
Having lived in a world where violence is everyday and everywhere, he saw the appearance of God in the form of non-violent Jesus.
It is something that cannot be explained by reasons, beyond theory.
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)

In addition, the Bible says that there were women in weak positions as opposed to the centurion by the cross of Jesus.

Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joseph, and Salome. In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there. (verse40-41)
